The Advantest R5373 is a microwave frequency counter delivering precision measurements from 10 mHz to 27 GHz across dual input channels. Employing the proprietary Digital TRAHET technique—a hybrid of transfer and heterodyne conversion—the R5373 achieves 1 Hz resolution at a one-second gate time for microwave frequencies, enabling rapid characterization of complex signals.
Technical Specifications
Frequency Measurement Range: 10 mHz to 27 GHz across two independent channels. Channel 1 covers 10 Hz to 550 MHz with 25 mV sensitivity; Channel 2 spans 500 MHz to 27 GHz with 2.24 V sensitivity. Both channels feature 50 Ω input impedance, ×1 and ×20 attenuation selection, and AC coupling.
Resolution and Accuracy: Settable resolution from 0.1 Hz to 10 MHz (1/gate time). Time base stability of 0.0000001/month. Measurement accuracy: ±1 count ± time base accuracy. Reciprocal counting technique enables high-resolution results within short measurement intervals.
Signal Handling: Accommodates FM bandwidths up to ±25 MHz (0.5–1.4 GHz) and ±125 MHz or greater (1.4 GHz and above, manual mode). Automatic measurements limited to 10 MHz p-p worst case. Pulse measurement capability: 0.5 µs minimum pulse width, 10 Hz to 5 MHz pulse repetition frequency. Burst wave and pulse-modulated carrier frequency measurements supported. Maximum input voltage 5 V across both channels.
Processing and Calculation: Built-in microprocessor controls measurement operations and data processing. Functions include moving difference display, scaling, 8×8 digit arithmetic, A/B and B/C ratio calculations, digital GO/NO-GO comparator, maximum and minimum value hold, deviation measurement (∆F), standard deviation, averaging (10¹ to 10⁴ samples), and PPM display.
