The Agilent J7230A OmniBER OTN Communications Analyzer is a protocol-aware instrument for analysis, generation, and monitoring of Optical Transport Network (OTN) and SONET/SDH communications systems across multiple network layers. It supports both electrical and optical interfaces for full-spectrum testing of high-speed telecom and transport networks, enabling equipment verification and service assurance in optical carrier environments.

• OTN: ITU-T G.709 with OTU1 (2.66 Gb/s) and OTU2 (10.71 Gb/s) channel rates. Forward Error Correction (FEC) simulation, analysis, and OTU frame capture.
• SONET/SDH: 52 Mb/s to 10 Gb/s. Standard and concatenated mappings including STS-3c/AU-4, STS-12c/AU-4-4c, STS-48c/AU-4-16c, STS-6c/AU-4-2c, STS-9c/AU-4-3c, STS-24c/AU-4-8c, and mixed mappings.
• PDH/DSn: 1.5 Mb/s to 140 Mb/s with framed/unframed testing and electrical interfaces.

Optical Interfaces
