The Agilent/Keysight 85541B is a temperature-characterized Electronic Calibration (ECal) module for Keysight PNA family network analyzers. It delivers rapid calibration refresh capability across extended temperature ranges without removing the device under test or reconnecting standards, making it ideal for thermal chamber testing and multi-port measurement scenarios.
Technical Specifications
• Frequency Range: 500 MHz to 40 GHz
• Temperature Compensation Range: -30 °C to +80 °C
• Typical Amplitude Re-correction: ±0.05 dB
• Typical Phase Re-correction: ±1.5°
• Typical Directivity Re-correction: -38 dB
• Connector Type: 2.92 mm (male input, female output)
• Power Level: -5 dBm (for typical performance measurement)
• IF Bandwidth: 1 kHz (for typical performance measurement)
• Measurement Averages: Eight
• Weight: Approximately 100 grams
Measurement uncertainty for transmission calibration is specified at 80% confidence over 20 to 30 °C with a single CalPod. When two CalPods are used with a 2-port DUT, total measurement uncertainty doubles. Residual S21 recorrection error increases with cable loss between the PNA and CalPod.
– Key Features
• One-port and two-port calibration capability on multi-port DUTs
• Temperature-compensated re-correction removes thermal effects from test cables and connectors
• Eliminates interruption to ongoing measurements during calibration refresh
• Controlled via 9-pin LEMO connector for DC signals
– Typical Applications
• Thermal chamber testing without measurement interruption
• Multi-port and multi-path measurement calibration
• Cable and connector thermal effect compensation
• Rapid calibration refresh in temperature-variable environments
– Compatibility & Integration
The 85541B operates with Keysight PNA-X N524xB, PNA N522xB, PNA-L N523xB, and PXIe Vector Network Analyzers M937xA. Requires Keysight 85523B CalPod Controller, compatible CalPod firmware, and standard 2 meter and 10 meter CalPod drive cables. The 85556A fan-out cable splitter is required to control more than four CalPods. Legacy firmware options 302 and 304 are no longer required.
