The Keysight U8487A is a USB average power sensor delivering accurate CW RF power measurements from 10 MHz to 50 GHz. This thermocouple-based sensor measures average power across a 55 dB dynamic range (-35 dBm to +20 dBm) with linearity better than 0.8%. Onboard DC reference and switching circuits enable internal calibration without repeated connector cycles, while S-parameter and gamma correction functions compensate for impedance mismatch and component-insertion errors. The sensor streams measurements at greater than 900 readings/second and integrates real-time measurement uncertainty calculation. Power is drawn directly from the USB port (400 mA), eliminating external supply requirements. The compact design measures 127.70 mm × 4 mm × 35.90 mm and connects via 2.4 mm female connector. A standard 5 ft cable is included; 10 ft and 16.3 ft variants are available separately.
