The EXFO CableSHARK RM DSL Cable Qualifier is a rack-mounted platform for qualifying and troubleshooting twisted-pair local loops in central office environments. It delivers Single End Line Testing (SELT) capabilities to analyze DSL and twisted-pair cable integrity, detect faults, and measure critical electrical characteristics across the physical layer up to 6 MHz.

Time Domain Reflectometry: Fully functional graphical TDR for locating opens, shorts, bridge taps, splices, and loop faults. Automatically determines loop length and indicates the number and distance to each fault.
Impairment Detection: Bridge taps (multiple appearances), load coils, bad splices, ingress noise, impulse noise, and crosstalk from adjacent pairs.
Noise Measurement: Power spectral density (PSD) noise with spectrum analysis to 6 MHz. Psophometric and 3 kHz flat filter noise and impulse noise measurement. On-screen powerline harmonic analysis at 60 Hz and harmonics up to the 9th. Analyzes effects of T1, HDSL, and other interferers on cable pairs.
Digital Multimeter (DMM): AC/DC voltage, AC/DC current, resistance, loop resistance, and capacitance measurements on A-B, A-Earth, and B-Earth configurations. Loop current measurement. Stress/leakage testing with programmable soak time and fault detection to 999 MΩ.
Longitudinal Balance Testing: Metallic pair balance assessment.
Modem Emulation: CO and CPE modem emulation. ATU-C and ATU-R modem emulation. CPE-based IP testing for network connectivity verification.
