The unit delivers up to 52,000 trace points (128,000 for fast modules) with sampling resolution to 8 cm, supporting multimode and singlemode fiber characterization across wavelengths from 850 nm to 1625 nm. A monochrome or color transflective touchscreen (7.4 or 7.7 inches, rated for over 1 million touches) provides intuitive operation on a Windows CE platform. The integrated InGaAs power meter covers -70 dBm to +4 dBm with ±5% uncertainty and tone detection at 270 Hz, 1000 Hz, and 200 Hz. Internal 32 MB RAM stores up to 700 traces; PCMCIA flash cards extend capacity to 6000 traces. Standard connectivity includes RS-232C serial, parallel printer port, PS/2 keyboard input, and 3.5 inch floppy drive. OTDR modules deliver dynamic ranges to 45 dB (singlemode), event dead zones as low as 1 meter, pulse widths from 10 ns to 20 µs, and distance measurement to 260 km. Four-point loss measurements and ORL calculation are supported across module configurations.
