Equipment info

The Fluke 792A AC/DC Transfer Standard with 792A Power Pack is a precision thermal transfer instrument engineered for ultra-high-accuracy AC/DC voltage and current measurements in primary calibration laboratories. It establishes traceability between AC measurements and DC standards using a patented Solid-State Thermal RMS sensor and thin-film range resistors, achieving total uncertainties as low as ±10 ppm (±5 ppm optional from Fluke’s Primary Standards Lab) traceable to NIST.

## Technical Specifications

**Measurement Range & Accuracy**
• Voltage: 2 mV to 1000 V (with external 1000 V range resistor); internal ranges to 220 V
• Frequency: 10 Hz to 1 MHz
• Volt-Hertz product maximum: 10 × 10⁶ V·Hz
• Total uncertainty: ±10 ppm (standard), ±5 ppm (optional primary lab grade)
• AC/DC reversal error: as low as 10 ppm relative to input voltage

**Thermal RMS Sensor**
The patented Solid-State Thermal Voltage Converter (TVC) delivers 2 V nominal full-scale output with excellent signal-to-noise characteristics and minimal thermal mass. Stabilization occurs in approximately 30 seconds; system warm-up requires 15 minutes after 12-hour environmental stabilization.

**Range Resistors**
Thin-film construction with low temperature coefficient, rapid stabilization, and minimal AC/DC differences. The 1000 V range resistor is isolated externally to eliminate heat generation at elevated voltages.

## Key Features

• Output: 2 V full-scale DC, compatible with high-resolution digital multimeters
• Input connector: Stainless Steel Type-N (rear panel)
• Output binding posts: HI, LO, GUARD, GROUND (front panel)
• Overload protection: Visual and audible alerts; electronically protected
• Current limitation requirement: sources must be current-limited to 200 mA maximum
• NIST traceability with correction factor tables and uncertainty documentation

## Typical Applications

• Primary AC voltage and current calibration
• AC/DC transfer standard operations in national metrology institutes
• Multi-frequency AC measurement verification (10 Hz to 1 MHz)
• High-accuracy voltage reference establishment across broad measurement ranges

## Compatibility & Integration

The 792A Power Pack supplies the instrument. Type-N input connectors enable integration with precision signal sources. Output via binding posts allows direct connection to precision digital multimeters or data acquisition systems.
