Equipment info

The HP/Agilent 81608A is a high-power, low-noise tunable laser source designed for precision optical signal generation across O-, S-, C-, and L-bands. This value-line module delivers peak output power exceeding +12 dBm to +13 dBm with exceptional signal-to-spontaneous emission ratios of ≥75 dB/nm typical, enabling advanced spectral measurements and laboratory testing. Wavelength tuning spans up to 200 nm/s bidirectionally with mode-hop-free operation across the full range. Absolute wavelength accuracy reaches ±5 pm static and ±10 pm sweeping, with repeatability of ±1.5 pm at full-speed two-way sweeps. Fine wavelength resolution of 0.1 pm (17.5 MHz at 1310 nm, 12.5 MHz at 1550 nm) supports detailed spectral analysis. Power stability remains exceptional at ±0.03 dB over 24 hours and ±0.01 dB over one hour. The laser integrates into the Keysight 8164B Lightwave Measurement System mainframe with N7700A Photonic Application Suite software, offering instrument-level SCPI command compatibility and 81600B laser command support.
