The Keithley KPCI-3160 is a PCI-based parallel digital I/O board delivering 96 TTL-level digital I/O lines organized into four 24-bit groups for data acquisition, process control, prototyping, and parallel communications. Each 24-bit group subdivides into three independent 8-bit ports (PA, PB, PC), with the PC port further subdividable into two 4-bit half ports. All ports configure independently as inputs or outputs via software control and default to input mode on power-up or reset.
The board’s high-current driver outputs sink 64 mA and source 15 mA, enabling direct control of relays, LEDs, and solid-state I/O modules without additional interface circuitry. PA, PB, and PC ports remain readable and writable at all times without affecting external signal levels. External interrupt capability on pins 24 and 25 supports external clocking and latching of digital I/O data.
