The NI PXI-8840 and PXI-8840 RT are high-performance embedded controllers designed for demanding test, measurement, and control applications in industrial environments. Both models integrate powerful processing capabilities within a compact four-wide 3U PXI Express form factor, offering modularity and expandability through the PXI standard.

The PXI-8840 is available in two processor configurations: an Intel Core i7-5700EQ quad-core variant (2.6 GHz, up to 8 GB/s bandwidth) or an Intel Core i5-4400E dual-core option (2.7 GHz, 2 GB/s bandwidth). Both support Intel Hyper-Threading and Turbo Boost technologies. The PXI-8840 RT features a dedicated Intel Core i5-4400E dual-core processor (2.7 GHz base, 3.3 GHz Turbo Boost) optimized for deterministic real-time operation with LabVIEW Real-Time Module 2013 or later.
