The Rohde & Schwarz SMX is a synthesized signal generator delivering precise RF output across 100 kHz to 1 GHz, engineered for receiver testing, component characterization, and production validation. Three nested VCOs eliminate the need for frequency doublers, yielding exceptional spectral purity and phase noise performance critical for AM, FM, and SSB measurements. The instrument combines stable frequency synthesis with flexible modulation—AM to 99% depth, FM deviation to 800 kHz, and pulse modulation with 20 ns rise time—making it equally suitable for laboratory development and high-volume manufacturing environments.
