The TC Communications TC8116 is an 8- or 16-channel serial data fiber optic multiplexer engineered for reliable transmission across demanding environments. It combines FPGA technology with field-interchangeable modules to support mixed asynchronous and synchronous interfaces—RS-232, RS-422, RS-485 (2/4-wire), dry contact relay, and TTL—along with optional analog and intercom capabilities. The unit mitigates EMI/RFI interference, ground loops, and lightning transients while delivering a bit error rate of 1 in 10⁹ or better and MTBF of 100,000 hours.
