The Tektronix ORS20 Optical Receiver System converts optical signals to electrical signals for precision analysis with oscilloscopes and test equipment. Engineered for telecommunications, datacom, and optical component testing, it delivers standards-compliant signal integrity verification across Fiber Channel (1063 Mb/s), Gigabit Ethernet (1250 Mb/s), and SONET/SDH OC-48/STM-16 (2.488 Gb/s) data rates. A single broad-spectrum photodetector handles both short-wavelength (850 nm) and long-wavelength (1310 nm) signals without reconfiguration.
Technical Specifications
• Bandwidth: 2.3 GHz full bandwidth for communication eye-pattern and general-purpose optical signal analysis
• Wavelength Response: 700 to 1650 nm, covering short-wavelength (780 nm, 850 nm) and long-wavelength (1310 nm, 1550 nm) test windows
• Frequency Response: 4th Order Bessel-Thompson characteristic—mandatory for Fiber Channel and Gigabit Ethernet compliance eye-pattern testing
• Data Rate Support: Switchable filters enable 1.063 Gb/s Fiber Channel, 1.25 Gb/s Ethernet, and 2.488 Gb/s SONET/SDH operation; functions as ITU-T G.957 reference receiver for 2.5 Gb/s signals
• Conversion Gain: ≥0.4 V/mW at 850 nm; ≥0.6 V/mW at 1310 nm
• Output: High-gain, low-noise electrical signal on precision 3.5 mm SMA connector; direct input to sampling heads such as the Tektronix SD22
• Dynamic Range: Accommodates low-power and high-peak-amplitude optical signals
