The Tektronix TG501 Time Mark Generator is a precision timing instrument that plugs into the TM 500 Series Power Module system to generate calibrated marker signals for testing and synchronization applications. It delivers marker outputs spanning 1 ns to 5 s using a 1, 2, 5 selection sequence, with a front-panel rotary switch controlling markers from 5 s through 10 ns and push-button selection for 5 ns, 2 ns, and 1 ns modified sine waves. A variable timing readout feature displays timing errors directly in percentage via a two-digit LED display, eliminating estimation errors and parallax uncertainty.

• Marker selection: 1, 2, 5 sequence; rotary switch (5 s to 10 ns); push-buttons (5 ns, 2 ns, 1 ns)
• Marker amplitude: >1 V peak into 50 Ω (5 s to 10 ns); >750 mV peak-to-peak (5 ns, 2 ns); >200 mV peak-to-peak (1 ns)
• Trigger output: Slaved to marker, same amplitude 5 s through 100 ns, remains at 100 ns for faster markers
• Internal reference: 1 MHz crystal oscillator (standard) or 5 MHz temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (Option 01)
• External reference input: 1 MHz, 5 MHz, or 10 MHz (with jumper configuration)
• Frequency stability: ±7.5% minimum deviation range; 1 MHz standard within 1 part per specified duration; 5 MHz Option 01 within 5 parts after 1/2 hour warm-up
• VCO: 100 MHz phase-locked to reference
• Output termination: 50 Ω required
