The Keysight 34931A is a dual 4×8 armature matrix module that plugs into the 34980A Multifunction Switch/Measure Unit to deliver flexible signal routing and switching in automated test systems. Each matrix provides 32 crosspoints for a total of 64 2-wire crosspoints, enabling efficient connection of multiple test points to various instruments. The module uses latching armature relays rated for ±300 V and 1 A per channel, with a 2 A carry current capability. Relay counters track usage to support predictive maintenance planning.

The 34931A integrates with the 34980A’s four 2-wire analog buses, allowing expansion to larger configurations. Up to eight matrix modules can be housed in a single mainframe to achieve 512 2-wire crosspoints. The module can be reconfigured as an 8×8 or 4×16 matrix by connecting columns or rows. Standard 50-pin D-sub connectors support external connections via cables, terminal blocks, or mass interconnect solutions. A hardware Safety Interlock automatically opens Analog Bus relays when interlock continuity is interrupted, protecting downstream equipment.
