The Anritsu 37397A is a vector network analyzer spanning 40 MHz to 65 GHz, integrating synthesized source, S-parameter test set, and tuned receiver in a single bench-top unit. It delivers fast, 12-term error-corrected measurements of complex transmission and reflection characteristics across two-port devices, supporting S-parameter acquisition (S11, S21, S22, S12) with user-defined a1, a2, b1, b2 combinations. The instrument accepts up to 1601 data points per sweep and enables frequency range narrowing and CW single-frequency operation without recalibration. Measurement modes span frequency domain, CW draw, and optional high-speed time/distance domain, with output formats including log magnitude, phase, Smith chart (impedance/admittance), linear polar, log polar, group delay, linear magnitude, real/imaginary components, SWR, and power. An 8.5-inch color LCD provides user-definable trace, text, and graticule colors, dual trace overlay, trace memory with mathematical operations, and six independent markers with delta reference capability. Error correction employs LRL/LRM, SOLT, offset short, waveguide, and AutoCal calibration methods, plus adapter removal for non-insertable devices and user-defined standards. Optimized for high-throughput operation via fast sweeps and rapid GPIB data transfer, the 37397A addresses broadband component characterization, radar development, and communication system evaluation.
