The Anritsu ME786xA is a distributed modular 2-port Vector Network Analyzer enabling phase-synchronized S-parameter measurements across distances up to 100 meters. The system combines two synchronized 1-port MS46131A VNAs via PhaseLync™ technology to form a fully reversing 2-port measurement platform. This architecture eliminates the need for long, lossy interconnect cables between the analyzer and Device Under Test, directly addressing measurement challenges in Over-the-Air testing, large vehicle shielding characterization, and propagation studies.

The ME786xA delivers 105 dB system dynamic range with support for up to 16,001 measurement data points across selectable sweep speeds. Time domain analysis includes low-pass configuration with time gating, providing TDR-like display resolution for discontinuity characterization. Selectable IF bandwidth spans 10 Hz to 300 kHz across nine discrete steps. The instrument operates as a USB-controlled benchtop system, requiring an external PC running ShockLine software for full command and analysis capabilities.

Frequency coverage spans three configurable options: 1 MHz to 8 GHz, 1 MHz to 20 GHz, or 1 MHz to 43.5 GHz with Extended-K™ ports. All measurements reference 50 Ohm impedance. Port connectors support both SMA and N-type female terminations. Operating temperature range is -10 °C to 55 °C, with storage capability from -51 °C to 71 °C. The absence of onboard data storage simplifies compliance in secure applications by eliminating data purge requirements.
