Anritsu MS2651A Spectrum Analyzer: 9 kHz to 3 GHz

The Anritsu MS2651A is a portable spectrum analyzer covering 9 kHz to 3 GHz, purpose-built for RF test and maintenance of radio equipment. It delivers 100 dB display dynamic range with a synthesized local oscillator, enabling fast signal characterization across VHF, UHF, and microwave bands. The instrument supports multiple measurement modes—adjacent channel leakage power, occupied bandwidth, gated power, and spurious detection—making it suitable for both analog and digital radio systems. An instant normalize function enables one-touch calibration and rapid measurement startup. The MS2651A weighs 10 kg for field portability and operates from standard AC power. GPIB connectivity supports system integration and automated test sequences. Optional modules expand capability: frequency counter (Option 03, 1 Hz resolution), AM/FM demodulator with voice monitor (Option 07), FM demodulation waveform display (Option 05), trigger/gate circuit (Option 06), tracking generator 100 kHz to 3 GHz (Option 20), DC coupling input extending to 500 Hz (Option 19), and pre-amplifier (Option 08). The tracking generator outputs 0 to -60 dBm across its range. Average noise floor reaches approximately -130 dBm in the 1 MHz to 1 GHz band (1 kHz RBW, 1 Hz VBW), with noise sidebands below -100 dBc at 10 kHz offset and -118 dBc at 100 kHz offset. Frequency accuracy is ±(display frequency × reference frequency accuracy + span × span accuracy + 100 Hz). Level accuracy is ±0.5 dB from 100 kHz to 3 GHz under standard conditions. RF input tolerates +10 dBm CW average power; maximum AC power rating is +30 dBm RF input and +20 dBm TG output. The 10 MHz reference oscillator exhibits residual FM of approximately 20 Hz peak-to-peak over 0.1 s. With Option 08 pre-amplifier installed, RF input maximum is -10 dBm.
