Equipment info

The Cole-Parmer 5053-20 is a laboratory vacuum oven engineered for precision drying, desiccation, vacuum embedding, plating, and electronic component processing. Operating from slightly above ambient to 220°C with vacuum capability up to 30 inches of mercury, it delivers controlled atmospheric processing in a 2.26 cubic foot chamber. Radiant warm-wall heating eliminates internal exposed elements, ensuring uniform temperature distribution and maximum usable chamber volume. A hydraulic thermostat maintains setpoint control, backed by a fixed bimetallic safety limit at approximately 250°C. The front-mounted control panel houses the lighted power switch with integrated circuit breaker, thermostat adjustment knob, 0–30 inches of mercury vacuum gauge, three-position vacuum/vent valve, and dual nickel-plated brass hose connectors for 1/4″ ID tubing. Non-corrosive, non-flammable gases including nitrogen and carbon dioxide are compatible with chamber operation.

## Technical Specifications

• Maximum temperature limit (safety): ~250°C via fixed bimetallic thermostat
• Vacuum capacity: Up to 30 inches of mercury (Hg)
• Chamber volume: 2.26 cubic feet
• Heating method: Radiant warm-wall with no internal exposed heaters
• Temperature control: Hydraulic thermostat
• Vacuum measurement: 0–30 inches of mercury gauge
• Electrical input: 120 VAC, 1600 W
• Overall dimensions: 25″ L × 21-1/4″ H × 25-1/8″ W

## Key Features

• Three-position vacuum/vent valve for evacuate, hold, and release modes
• Lighted power switch with built-in circuit breaker protection
• Pilot light indicator on thermostat
• Clockwise/counterclockwise thermostat knob for temperature adjustment
• Nickel-plated brass hose connectors accepting 1/4″ ID flexible tubing
• All operational controls consolidated on front vertical panel

## Typical Applications

• Component desiccation under vacuum
• Vacuum embedding processes
• Plating operations
• Electronic component processing
• Controlled-atmosphere thermal processing

## Compatibility & Integration

Non-corrosive, non-flammable gases such as nitrogen and carbon dioxide may be introduced into the chamber alongside vacuum operation. External vacuum pump connection is required via the 1/4″ ID hose connectors.
