The Corning SMF-28e is a standard single-mode optical fiber supplied on a 200 km spool, engineered for long-haul and high-bandwidth telecommunications infrastructure. This ITU-T G.652.D compliant fiber delivers full-spectrum operation from 1260 nm to 1625 nm, with optimized performance across the water peak region. Low attenuation at 1310 nm (≤0.32 dB/km) and 1550 nm (≤0.18 dB/km) enables extended transmission distances and increased capacity. The fiber exhibits bend-insensitive characteristics with macrobend loss ≤0.03 dB at 1550 nm (32 mm mandrel, 1 turn), reducing installation losses and improving network reliability. Mode-field diameter ranges from 9.2 ± 0.4 µm at 1310 nm to 9.8 ± 0.5 µm at 1550 nm. Polarization mode dispersion of ≤0.06 ps/√km (link design value) ensures minimal pulse broadening over long distances. Chromatic dispersion is ≤18.0 ps/(nm•km) at 1550 nm and ≤22.0 ps/(nm•km) at 1625 nm, with zero dispersion wavelength between 1302 nm and 1322 nm. The fiber is dual-acrylate or CPC® coated with a 125.0 ± 0.7 µm cladding diameter and meets proof-test requirements of ≥100 kpsi tensile stress.

– Compatibility & Integration
This fiber integrates with standard telecommunications infrastructure supporting G.652.D networks. Wide wavelength coverage and low attenuation across C-band and L-band windows enable multi-channel dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) and wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) systems.
