The Corning SMF-28e is a 45 km spool of industry-standard single-mode optical fiber engineered for metro, access, and FTTH network deployments. This ITU-T G.652.D compliant fiber delivers ultra-low attenuation across C, L, and extended bands—0.03 dB/km at 1310 nm, 0.02 dB/km at 1550 nm, and 0.03 dB/km at 1625 nm—while eliminating the water-peak attenuation region (1360–1460 nm). The fiber supports full-spectrum transmission, enabling optimized 16+ channel CWDM network performance. With a 9 µm core, 125 µm cladding, and dual acrylate CPC coatings, SMF-28e delivers exceptional macrobend resilience (≤0.03 dB at 1550 nm over 10 mm mandrel, 100 turns) and maintains a ≥100 kpsi tensile proof strength. Backward compatible with legacy single-mode fibers, it provides zero-dispersion wavelength between 1304–1324 nm and supports PMD design values of ≤0.06 ps/√km for long-haul and metro applications. Dispersion remains ≤18.0 ps/(nm•km) at 1550 nm and ≤22.0 ps/(nm•km) at 1625 nm, with zero-dispersion slope ≤0.092 ps/(nm²•km). Mode-field diameter is 9.2 ± 0.4 µm at 1310 nm and 9.8 ± 0.5 µm at 1550 nm. Cable cutoff wavelength is ≤1260 nm. The 245 µm ± 5 µm coating diameter ensures compatibility with standard cabling and splice infrastructure.
