The DiCon GP700M Optical Modular Mainframe is a field-configurable platform for high-density integration of optical components in telecommunications, photonics research, and test environments. Built on the established GP700 architecture, the GP700M accepts up to eight modular plug-in modules, enabling engineers to assemble custom switching, routing, and signal conditioning systems without extensive redesign. The mainframe ships in standard or extended 4U rackmount chassis with four or eight modular bays, and accepts non-modular internal components upon request.
## Technical Specifications
**Chassis Configuration**
• 4U rackmount form factor (standard and extended options)
• Supports four or eight modular plug-in bays
• Accommodates up to eight modular plug-in modules total
• Non-modular internal component integration available upon request
**Supported Modular Plug-in Types**
• Multi-Channel Fiber Optic Switches: 1×16 to 2×12 configurations; compatible with Corning SMF-28, Flexcor 1060, and Panda fiber
• Two-Position Switches: Up to four discrete 2×2, 1×2, or On-Off switch elements per module (firmware v2.12 or later required)
• MxN Matrix Switches: Passive routing with zero optical-to-electrical conversion; wavelength, direction, bandwidth, data rate, and format independent with negligible crosstalk
• 1xN Switches: Precision alignment up to 100 channels
• Variable Attenuators: 0 to 60 dB range with better than 0.15 dB resolution; customizable for specific wavelength windows (e.g., 1310 nm)
• Tunable Filters: Tuning range example 1535 to 1565 nm
• Dynamic Power Equalizer (DPE): Closed-loop attenuator maintains preset output optical power with low insertion loss, precise resolution, excellent repeatability, wide attenuation range, and low back reflection
## Key Features
• Data-rate and signal-format independent operation across all switch modules
• Field-installable and field-reconfigurable architecture
• Passive MxN switching eliminates wavelength and bandwidth constraints
• Attenuation control to 0.15 dB resolution
• Integrated closed-loop power equalization with minimal insertion loss
## Typical Applications
• Optical signal routing and switching in telecommunications
• Photonics research and measurement systems
• Dynamic optical test and measurement platforms
• Signal conditioning and power management in optical networks
## Compatibility & Integration
Modular architecture permits mix-and-match configuration of switch, filter, attenuation, and equalization functions within a single chassis. Two-position switch modules require firmware version 2.12 or later. Fiber options include standard SMF-28, Flexcor 1060, and Panda designs.
