The HP/Agilent 11690A is a passive frequency doubler that extends the RF output range of signal generators by converting input signals to the second harmonic. Using a balanced diode quad circuit with full-wave rectification, it suppresses the fundamental frequency and generates a higher-frequency output with excellent harmonic rejection. The doubler delivers conversion loss below 13 dB and maintains output flatness within 4 dB across its operating range, making it suitable for RF testing, microwave communications, radar system characterization, and electronic warfare applications requiring precise signal generation at elevated frequencies.
