The HP/Agilent 42842A Bias Current Test Fixture is a 2-terminal accessory that applies DC bias current to devices under test while impedance characteristics are measured. Operating across 20 Hz to 2 MHz, it delivers up to 20 A DC bias and integrates with compatible impedance analyzers to characterize inductive components under load conditions. The fixture includes automated safety features: temperature cutoff at 70°C (measuring terminal) or 200°C (DUT), automatic discharge upon cover opening, and back-EMF protection that reduces voltage below 40 V within 0.1 second. Measurement accuracy is specified at 2% below 1 kHz, 1% at and above 1 kHz, and 2% above 1 MHz. A clear plastic cover enables safe operation and DUT monitoring. DUT size is limited to 80 mm × 80 mm × 80 mm maximum. The fixture operates from 5°C to 45°C and includes BNC female connector for bias voltage output with integrated DC bias voltage monitoring. Supplied with shorting plate and operation manual.
