The Keysight/Agilent/HP E1446A is a C-size, one-slot VXI summing amplifier and 16-bit DAC module designed for signal conditioning and analog output within VXIbus systems. It combines two input signals with programmable DC offsets and independent level control, then conditions the summed output through a switchable 20-dB post attenuator. The module delivers 20 Vp-p into a 50-Ohm load or 40 Vp-p into high impedance, making it suitable for both standalone power DAC applications and as a slave device to the E1445A Arbitrary Function Generator.
Technical Specifications
• Module Type: C-size, one-slot, register-based VXI module
• DAC Resolution: 16-bit
• Output Voltage: 20 Vp-p (50-Ohm load) / 40 Vp-p (high impedance)
• Input Configuration: Two separate summing channels
• Signal Conditioning: Pre-amplifier attenuators for independent level control; switchable 20-dB post attenuator
• Programming Interface: SCPI language via E1406A Command Module or E1445A Arbitrary Function Generator
– Key Features
• Integrated summing amplifier with precision 16-bit DAC in single module
• Programmable DC offset and level adjustment
• High output drive capability into both loaded and high-impedance terminations
• Register-based architecture for deterministic control
• Pre- and post-attenuation flexibility for signal conditioning
– Typical Applications
• Precision analog output and DC bias insertion in automated test systems
• Standalone power DAC functionality for VXIbus measurements
• Signal summing and offset control in instrument chains
• Slave operation to arbitrary function generators for enhanced signal generation
– Compatibility & Integration
The E1446A integrates directly into VXIbus mainframes via standard P1 and P2 backplane connectors. It operates standalone or under control of the E1406A Command Module. When paired with the E1445A Arbitrary Function Generator, it functions as a dependent module without requiring a separate command interface.
