The Keysight N4373C is a lightwave component analyzer engineered for S-parameter characterization of high-speed electro-optical devices from 10 MHz to 40, 50, and 67 GHz. It delivers absolute frequency response accuracy of ±1.2 dB at 50 GHz and ±1.8 dB at 65 GHz, with relative accuracy of ±0.8 dB and ±1.3 dB respectively. The instrument combines network analyzer architecture with integrated optical transmitters at 1310 nm and 1550 nm for IEEE 802.3ba compliance, plus external optical source capability across 1300–1600 nm via polarization-maintaining fiber input.

Designed for on-wafer and component-level measurements, the N4373C qualifies responsivity, 3 dB cutoff frequency, and optical path length while characterizing fiberoptic transponders and electro-optical transmission systems. Selectable optical output power and user-configurable transmitter wavelengths adapt to diverse test scenarios. A streamlined calibration methodology eliminates time-consuming optical alignment and automates electrical calibration, reducing setup time to minutes rather than hours.
