The Keysight N6785A is a double-wide Source/Measure Unit (SMU) engineered for precise battery drain analysis of mobile and battery-powered devices within the N6700 modular power system. It combines stable sourcing and sinking capability with a built-in digitizer that captures voltage, current, and power at ~200 kHz sampling rates, enabling real-time visibility of current drain from nanoamperes to amperes without manual range switching. The module delivers 80 W of output power across four programmable voltage ranges (6 V, 10 V, 15 V, 20 V) and corresponding current ranges (±4 A to ±8 A), with programming accuracy of 0.025% + 1.8 mV for voltage and 0.04% + 1.4 mA for current. Its programmable output resistance emulates battery internal impedance, while an auxiliary voltage measurement input (–20 V to +20 VDC, ~2 kHz bandwidth) supports battery voltage rundown studies. Output voltage ripple is held to 15 mV peak-to-peak and 1.5 mV RMS across the 20 Hz to 20 MHz band.
