Equipment info

The Left-Hand Button Panel is a replacement control interface for FSU 900 series fusion splicers, engineered for left-handed operators. This panel provides ergonomic access to essential splicing controls and management functions, enabling intuitive operation of the splicer’s full feature set including automatic and manual splicing modes, program selection, and data download capabilities.

Technical Specifications

The FSU 900 series splicers equipped with this panel support cladding diameters from 30 to 270 µm with auto-alignment, and 30 to 400 µm with manual alignment. Primary coating accommodation extends to 2 mm for loose tube applications, with unprotected fiber and tight secondary coating support up to 0.250/1 mm. Typical splice loss for identical single-mode fibers reaches 0.02 dB, while identical multimode fibers achieve 0.01 dB. Return loss exceeds 60 dB. High-strength splicing delivers 20–40 N depending on prep tools and cladding grip configuration.

– Key Features

• Arc fusion splice method with automatic prefusion and computer-controlled fusion parameters
• Hot Core Alignment and POL alignment (360-degree PM fiber rotation) for precision splicing
• Splice loss estimation via mode coupling theory and warm image processing
• Programmable splice parameters with factory-defined and user-editable options
• Attenuator making with controlled splice attenuation to 29 dB
• Tapering software for creating fiber end faces with microlens characteristics
• Program upload/download via PC for network distribution across multiple splicers
• Excel file export for splicing data and measurement instrument records

– Compatibility & Integration

Supports single-mode and multimode fibers including dispersion-shifted (DSF), dispersion-compensating (DCF), and non-zero dispersion-shifted varieties (LEAF, TrueWave). Compatible with erbium-doped fibers (EDF) and polarization-maintaining fibers (Panda, bow-tie, elliptical core, elliptical jacket). Handles thin core fiber splicing. Operates in both automatic and manual modes for flexible workflow integration.
