The MKS Instruments Newport 1835-C is a high-performance optical meter engineered for precise optical power and energy measurements across laboratory and industrial environments. It measures optical power from 100 fW to 300 W and performs pulsed and integrated energy measurements for both continuous wave and pulsed light sources. The instrument displays results in multiple units—Watts, dBm, dB, Joules, Ergs, Amperes, and Volts—and supports DC, peak-to-peak, and pulse measurement modes.

The 1835-C operates with three detector families from Newport’s 818 Series:
• Low-Power Detectors (818 Series semiconductor): 100 fW to 2 W across 190 nm to 1800 nm; requires calibration module
• High-Power Detectors (818P/818T thermopile): 10 mW to 300 W across 0.19 µm to 11 µm
• Energy Detectors (818E/818J pyroelectric): 35 nJ to 1 J across 0.19 µm to 20 µm for pulsed sources
RS-232C and IEEE-488 connectivity enable remote control and automated data acquisition in bench and system-integrated configurations.
