The National Instruments PXI-8331 (MXI-4) is a high-performance interface module that enables remote control and high-speed data transfer between a PXI chassis and a host computer. Using MXI-4 technology as a PCI-to-PCI bridge, it creates a software-transparent link allowing PXI modules to be recognized and controlled as native PCI devices in the host system. This architecture facilitates multichassis expansion and leverages powerful desktop computers or servers to manage complex PXI configurations without requiring additional host power supply.
