Equipment info

The Newport 918D is a universal fiber optic detector for optical power measurements spanning 410 nm to 1650 nm. Built with an integrating sphere design and dual-detector architecture (InGaAs and Silicon), it delivers accurate readings across diverse fiber types and operating conditions. The detector accommodates power levels from 1 nW to 350 mW (918D-IS-1) with ±0.5% linearity and ±2% uniformity. A DB15 connector pigtail integrates directly with Newport power meters, while interchangeable fiber adapters support bare fiber and standard connector types. Switchable attenuators (OD1, OD2, OD3) extend dynamic range to several watts in high-power configurations. Rise time of ≤3 µs enables pulse energy measurement up to 100 µJ. Calibration uncertainty ranges from 1.1% to 2.6% across the operating band, with temperature compensation ensuring stable performance across environmental variation.
