The NI 9949 is an RJ-50 to screw-terminal accessory that bridges modular connectors to screw-terminal I/O systems. It routes all 10 pins plus shield from an RJ-50 female receptacle to 12 individual screw terminals, enabling direct integration with National Instruments data acquisition hardware. Each RJ-50 pin (1–10) maps one-to-one to corresponding screw terminals, with dedicated shield termination. This adapter is engineered for industrial environments and operates reliably across -40 to 70 °C.
Technical Specifications
Connector Interface
• Input: RJ-50 female receptacle
• Output: 12 screw terminals
• Pin routing: RJ-50 pins 1–10 to screw terminals 1–10; shield routed to dedicated terminal
Physical Dimensions
• 65.6 × 21.3 × 31.5 mm (2.58 × 0.84 × 1.24 in.)
• Weight: 1.5 oz
• Mounting: M4×20 screws or equivalent hardware required
Environmental
• Operating temperature: -40 to 70 °C
Electrical
• Wire termination: 2-wire ferrules required when multiple conductors terminate at a single screw terminal
– Key Features
• Compact form factor suited for space-constrained installations
• Strain relief via plastic tie strap (wraps around front two mounting holes)
• RJ-50 to screw-terminal conversion eliminates need for custom cabling
• All 10 signal pins plus shield accessible at individual screw terminals
– Typical Applications
• Signal routing for SCXI-1314T and NI-9237 RJ-50 equipped devices
• Industrial data acquisition requiring field-wired screw-terminal connections
• Measurement systems with legacy screw-terminal termination infrastructure
– Compatibility & Integration
Compatible Devices
• NI-9237 with RJ-50 connector
• SCXI-1314T
Cable Requirements
• RJ-50 cables must be used. RJ-45 cables will physically damage pins 1 and 10, causing shunt calibration failure and device malfunction.
