Equipment info

The North Atlantic 5410C-129 is an eight-channel, 16-bit multiplying digital-to-analog converter housed in a single-slot VXIbus size “C” enclosure. Each isolated D/A channel delivers up to 50 mA of output current and maintains 16-bit monotonicity across the full operating temperature range of -10°C to +65°C. Channels configure as either standard D/A converters or four-quadrant multiplying D/A converters with programmable gain from -1 to 1, making the unit suitable for high-accuracy analog signal generation in industrial and military test environments.

Technical Specifications

D/A Conversion Performance
• Resolution: 16 bits
• Output voltage (standard mode): ±10 VDC or ±16.384 VDC, programmable
• Output voltage (AC sine wave): ±10.000 Vpeak to 5.0 kHz (Code 4) or ±16.384 Vpeak to 3.5 kHz (Code 3)
• Output current: 50 mA per channel
• Multiplying accuracy (at 25°C): ±0.015% FSR
• AC feedthrough: -60 dB typical at 3500 Hz
• Phase throughput: -1.3° typical at 3500 Hz
• Self-test accuracy: ±3% of full scale range

Power Requirements
• ±24 VDC at 250 mA (full load)
• +12 VDC at 170 mA
• +5 VDC at 600 mA

Environmental Performance
• Operating temperature: -10°C to +65°C
• Non-operating temperature: -40°C to +85°C
• Relative humidity: up to 90% RH
• Shock resistance: 15G, 11 ms
• Vibration resistance: MIL-T-28800C class V
• Operating altitude: 10,000 feet
• Dimensions: 13.4″ × 9.2″ (size C, 1.2″ pitch)
• Weight: 5 lbs

– Key Features

• Remote sensing on each channel to eliminate cable voltage drop errors
• Eight independent isolated channels for flexible system architecture
• Programmable continuous or trigger-initiated output via TTLTRG0–TTLTRG7
• Accepts floating point, decimal, integer, string, and scientific notation data formats
• No preventive maintenance required; calibration interval 1 year

– Typical Applications

Analog signal synthesis, four-quadrant multiplying operations, precision gain control, and industrial test systems requiring isolation between channels and high DC accuracy.

– Compatibility & Integration

VXIbus message-based instrument designed for modular test systems. Single-slot size C form factor enables dense integration within VXIbus mainframes.
