Equipment info

The Rohde & Schwarz ESCI is a dual-function EMI test receiver and spectrum analyzer covering 9 kHz to 3 GHz, engineered for EMC compliance certification and product development. It delivers measurement uncertainty below 1 dB across its full frequency range, with a displayed average noise level of typically −155 dBm (RBW = 10 Hz, preamplifier on). The instrument combines an LSI frontend with digital signal processing to achieve high reliability and measurement accuracy across CISPR, EN, ETS, FCC, ANSI C63.4, VCCI, and VDE standards.

Technical Specifications

Frequency Coverage: 9 kHz to 3 GHz

Measurement Bandwidths:
• EMI measurement: 200 Hz, 9 kHz, 120 kHz, 1 MHz
• Resolution bandwidths (analyzer mode, −3 dB): 10 Hz to 3 MHz in 1/3/10 steps
• Digital filters: 1 Hz to 30 kHz
• Channel filters: 100 Hz to 5 MHz

Detector Suite:
• Peak (max/min), quasi-peak, average, CISPR average, RMS, RMS-average
• Up to three detectors simultaneously selectable
• CISPR 16-1-1 pulse weighting via quasi-peak detector

• Total measurement uncertainty: < 1 dB (to 3 GHz)
• Displayed Average Noise Level: typically −155 dBm (RBW = 10 Hz, preamplifier on)
• 1 dB compression point: +5 dBm nominal (without preselection)
• Phase noise at 500 MHz: typically −113 dBc (1 Hz) at 10 kHz offset

Preselection and Gain:
• Built-in 20 dB preamplifier
• 11 preselection filters with integrated switch selection
• ESCI7 model: twelve preselection filters extending to 7 GHz

Measurement Speed:
• Receiver mode: from 100 µs (SCAN mode)
• Spectrum analyzer sweep: 2.5 ms to 16,000 s (span ≥ 10 Hz)
• Zero span (time domain): 1 µs to 16,000 s resolution at 125 ns

– Key Features
