Equipment info

The Sigma Systems M360 is a liquid nitrogen-cooled thermal chamber engineered for accelerated life testing, environmental characterization, and cryogenic device validation across industrial, automotive, aerospace, and electronics sectors. It delivers temperature extremes from −100°C to +200°C in standard configuration, with an extended-range option reaching −185°C to +500°C. The chamber achieves thermal cycling rates up to 100°C per minute with minimal temperature gradients, ensuring repeatable test conditions across the 28″ × 28″ × 28″ interior.

Technical Specifications

Temperature Control
• Standard operating range: −100°C to +200°C
• Optional extended range: −185°C to +500°C
• Heating and cooling rate: Up to 100°C per minute
• Cooling method: Liquid nitrogen (LN2); liquid CO₂ option available
• Low temperature gradient for consistent DUT exposure

Chamber Geometry
• Interior cavity: 28″ × 28″ × 28″
• DUT access via apertures, ports, and notches
• Standard round apertures: 1.25″ to 4″ internal diameter
• Door configurations: Single, dual, top-access, slide-out, or PCB-slot designs available

Control & Instrumentation
• Controller: Sigma C4 with touch-screen interface
• Real-time graphing and diagnostics logging
• Dual modes: System control and device-under-test (DUT) control
• Multiple communication protocols supported
• Optional independent failsafe protection (PFS-2) against thermal DUT damage
• High-velocity airflow for rapid thermal transients

Options & Accessories
• Interior lighting and multi-plate insulated windows
• Gas purge systems for moisture and contamination control
• Shelving and thermal insulators
• Dual 4″ portholes (2xPH4) for instrumentation feedthrough

– Key Features

LN₂ cooling eliminates mechanical refrigeration limitations, enabling true cryogenic performance below −100°C. The Sigma C4 controller integrates SCADA via Modbus/TCP (configuration dependent) for automated test sequences and data acquisition. High-speed thermal ramping reduces test duration while low gradients preserve component reliability during stress screening and burn-in cycles.

– Typical Applications

Automotive component accelerated life testing, MIL-STD environmental qualification, network equipment thermal characterization, LED extended-life validation, MEMS calibration, downhole instrumentation quality assurance, and industrial automation component screening.

– Compatibility & Integration

The M360 operates with the Sigma C4 controller, supporting Modbus/TCP and PROFINET protocols for laboratory information management system (LIMS) integration and multi-station thermal test farms.
