Equipment info

The Wavetek 21 is a stabilized function generator delivering precise signal generation from 100 µHz to 11 MHz. Built for laboratory testing, electronics development, and telecommunications applications, it combines digital synthesis below 1.1 kHz with analog generation at higher frequencies. Engineers can select from eight waveforms—sine, triangle, square, ramp up, ramp down, haversine, havertriangle, and DC—with continuous, triggered, or gated operation modes.

Technical Specifications

Frequency & Stability
• Frequency range: 100 µHz to 11 MHz
• Short-term and long-term frequency accuracy: ±0.09% over operating range
• Temperature-compensated stability: ±0.09% of range (0 to +50°C)

Output Specifications
• Maximum amplitude: 20 Vp-p (open circuit); 10 Vp-p into 50Ω load
• Amplitude control: 20 dB variable range
• Attenuated output (-20 dB): Fixed attenuation on dedicated output, enabling 40 dB total amplitude range
• Peak output current: 100 mA maximum
• Source impedance: 50Ω (both outputs)
• DC offset: ±10V maximum (±5V into 50Ω), with calibrated zero offset position

Waveform Generation
• Digital synthesis below 1.1 kHz for advanced functions (ramps, haverwaves, instantaneous hold/continue)
• Analog generation above 1.1 kHz
• Available sweep modes: Linear and logarithmic frequency sweep

Operating Modes
• Continuous: Uninterrupted signal generation
• Triggered: Single waveform cycle on external or manual trigger
• Gated: Output continues during gate signal duration; in-progress waveform completes

Power
• Supply: 90–128 VAC or 180–256 VAC, 48–66 Hz
• Power consumption: Less than 35 VA
• Fuse requirement: 3/16 amp (180–265 VAC operation)

– Key Features

• Eight waveform options with frequency-dependent generation architecture
• Dual outputs: Main Function Out and attenuated Function Out (-20 dB)
• VCG input for external voltage control
• Frequency accuracy stable across full operating temperature range
• 100 mA output drive capability

– Typical Applications

• Circuit testing and validation
• Electronics prototyping and development
• Telecommunications system simulation
• Precision timing and trigger signal generation

– Compatibility & Integration

BNC connectors on primary and attenuated outputs. 50Ω source impedance ensures standard RF test bench integration. Dual AC supply voltages accommodate international lab installations.
