The Yaskawa PG-W2 is a dual encoder feedback option card that mounts directly to compatible drive control boards, enabling simultaneous acquisition from two independent encoders. This card supports two encoder pulse train inputs and one selectable pulse train output, delivering the signal conditioning and interface logic required for advanced motor control across multiple topologies including open-loop current vector, V/f with PG feedback, closed-loop vector, and closed-loop vector for permanent magnet motors.

Technical Specifications

Encoder Inputs: Two quadrature pulse train inputs with complimentary line driver signal architecture for enhanced noise immunity. Supports encoder output signals between +5 VDC and +12 VDC. Open collector signal types are not supported.

Signal Processing: Accepts quadrature line driver signals (primary and complement pairs) for direction detection at 90-degree phase offset. Maximum input frequency of 300 kHz with a recommended 20% safety margin applied to calculated output frequency.

Pulse Train Output: One selectable output configurable to source from either encoder input for downstream follower applications.

Power Supply: Single +12 VDC supply (terminals 1 and 2) rated 200 mA maximum. Design intent supports one encoder; care required to avoid exceeding supply capacity when driving dual encoders.

Terminal Configuration: 24-position screw terminal block with shield connection points at terminals 9, 16, and 23 for shielded cable termination.

Physical: 0.28 lbs gross weight, 0.15 lbs net weight.
