The Abaco Systems / VMIC VMIVME-5588DMA-500 is a single-slot 6U VMEbus reflective memory board delivering high-speed, deterministic data sharing across distributed systems via fiber-optic interconnection. Operating at 1.2 Gbaud serial with throughput up to 29.5 Mbyte/s (standard mode) or 14.8 Mbyte/s (redundant error-suppression mode), this board supports network topologies spanning up to 256 nodes across distances from 30 m (twinax) to 10 km (single-mode fiber). An on-board DMA controller enables zero-processor-overhead broadcast writes from local SDRAM to all networked nodes, while integrated interrupt arbitration allows any node to signal any or all peer nodes with a single command. Transmit and receive FIFOs optimize sustained throughput during peak data rates.
