The ABB DPU2000R is a microprocessor-based distribution protection unit for electrical distribution and sub-transmission line systems. It integrates protective, monitoring, metering, programmable control, and communication functions into a single device. Built on 32-bit microprocessor architecture with Digital Signal Processing (DSP), the DPU2000R delivers a 256-cycle per phase oscillographic record analyzer, event logging, and three groups of settings tables for on-line adaptive relaying.
Technical Specifications
The unit operates with voltage settings from 40 to 250 V in 1 V increments. Undervoltage protection (27-1 and 27-3) ranges from 40 to 200 V with time delays of 0 to 60 seconds. Overvoltage protection (59-1 and 59-3) spans 70 to 250 V with identical time delay ranges. Cold Load Inrush Blocking enables programmable delays from 0 to 254 seconds or minutes.
– Key Features
• Phase and ground overcurrent protection (50/51 series) with instantaneous and time-delay functions
• Negative-sequence overcurrent and overvoltage detection (47 element)
• Four-zone phase distance protection with MHO circle characteristics and independent zone settings
• Under/over frequency protection for load-shedding applications
• Sensitive Earth Fault (SEF) option using zero-sequence current (50N-2)
• Power directional function (32N) for negative-sequence current
• Discrete alarm outputs for disabled protective functions and cold load inrush conditions
• Integrated metering to reduce external instrument requirements and panel wiring
– Typical Applications
• Distribution line protection and coordination
• Sub-transmission step-distance protection
• Small rotating machinery protection
• Load-shedding and frequency support schemes
– Compatibility & Integration
The DPU2000R consolidates protection, monitoring, and metering into a single platform, eliminating the need for separate protective relays and meters while maintaining full communication capabilities for SCADA integration.
