The ADLINK cPCI-7248 is a 3U CompactPCI digital I/O card delivering 48 channels of parallel input/output for industrial automation, process monitoring, and machine control. It emulates two industry-standard 8255 Programmable Peripheral Interface chips in Mode 0, with each PPI providing three 8-bit ports (A, B, C) or subdivided 4-bit nibble configurations. The card integrates programmable timer/counters—one 16-bit event counter and one 32-bit timer for interrupt generation—along with dual interrupt capability from DIO channels and timer outputs. A single 100-pin SCSI-type connector supporting Opto-22 external devices simplifies integration into existing industrial systems.
