Anritsu 37347A Vector Network Analyzer (40 MHz to 20 GHz)

The Anritsu 37347A is a microprocessor-controlled vector network analyzer delivering S-parameter measurements from 40 MHz to 20 GHz in a compact benchtop format. It integrates a synthesized source, S-parameter test set, and tuned receiver into a single unit, enabling fast 12-term error-corrected sweeps with rapid GPIB data transfer. Four independent measurement channels support S11, S21, S22, S12, and user-defined combinations of incident and reflected waves. The instrument measures up to 1601 data points per sweep—selectable to 801, 401, 201, 101, or 51 points without recalibration—and accepts arbitrary discrete point sets (2 ≤ N ≤ 1601). Measurement frequency windows can be narrowed within the calibration range, and CW mode enables single-frequency analysis. A 10 Hz IF bandwidth and 512 averages support precision measurements with noise floors ranging from −65 dBm at 0.04 GHz to −91 dBm at 2 GHz. Maximum receiver dynamic range reaches 128 dB at 2 GHz, while system dynamic range extends to 98 dB across the operating band. Port 1 delivers 5 dBm at both band edges. An 8.5-inch color LCD or external VGA monitor displays results in multiple formats: log magnitude, phase, Smith chart (impedance and admittance), linear and log polar, group delay, and linear magnitude. Error correction includes LRL/LRM and adapter removal calibrations with integrated AutoCal control. High-level noise remains below 0.04 dB with <0.5 peak-to-peak ripple in 1 kHz IF bandwidth to 20 GHz. Typical measurement time for 101 data points across the full band is 500 ms. Port 1 features a 1 watt, 70 dB step attenuator; optional Port 2 test attenuator (40 dB) is available. Internal bias tees simplify DC biasing of active devices. Source frequency resolution is 1 kHz standard, upgradable to 1 Hz with Option 10A. Optional time-domain capability (Option 2) provides distance and delay analysis.
