The Anritsu 69087A is a synthesized CW generator delivering precise RF output across 0.01 to 65 GHz. Built for applications requiring exceptional frequency stability and low noise performance, this instrument serves broadband communications, aerospace, and defense testing environments. The synthesized architecture provides 100.0 mHz frequency resolution (0.1 Hz optional) and stable +12 dBm output power. Internal modulation supports AM, FM, pulse, and phase modes, with user-downloadable complex modulation capabilities. Step sweep functionality spans 1 to 10,000 steps with 1 kHz minimum step size, supporting dwell times from 1 ms to 99 seconds and typical switching times under 15 ms plus 1 ms per GHz. Phase noise performance reaches typically -100 dBc at 10 kHz offset from a 10 GHz carrier, while spurious signals remain exceptionally low across the frequency range. Frequency accuracy tracks the internal or external 10 MHz time base with aging below 2×10⁻⁸/day and temperature stability of 2×10⁻⁸/°C (0 to 55°C). Optional stability enhancements reduce aging to 5×10⁻¹⁰/day and temperature drift to 2×10⁻¹⁰/°C. The instrument accepts external 10 MHz reference input and provides 10 MHz reference output at 0.5 V p-p into 50 Ω. Front-panel control enables immediate operation; IEEE-488 GPIB connectivity supports remote automation. Optional SCPI programmability and application drivers extend integration flexibility. Alternate sweep mode enables rapid transitions between two frequency ranges with independent power levels. Manual sweep mode provides phase-locked frequency stepping across defined limits. The 69087A integrates into the broader 69000A/68000B series ecosystem for coordinated test solutions.
