The Exfo IQS-5100B Polarization Scrambler is a module for the IQS-500 Intelligent Qualification System that controls and alters the state of polarization (SOP) of lightwaves across the 1260 nm to 1650 nm band. Built on an all-fiber design with no mechanical parts, it delivers exceptionally low activation-dependent loss (typical 0.006 dB, maximum 0.01 dB) while maintaining greater than 40 dB extinction ratio and better than 50 dB return loss. The scrambler achieves 98% Poincaré sphere coverage in a single period and 99% in two periods, with adjustable scrambling duration from 1 to 99.9 seconds. It handles optical power up to 1 W and integrates into test systems via GPIB, Ethernet, or RS-232 interfaces.
