Lambda / TDK / EMI ESS54

The TDK-Lambda ESS54 is a programmable DC power supply delivering constant voltage/constant current operation with automatic crossover. Engineered for high-performance industrial and laboratory applications, it combines pulse-by-pulse current limiting with excellent transient response and 85% efficiency. Available in 10 kW and 15 kW configurations with output voltages to 600 V and currents up to 1400 A, the ESS54 serves RF amplifiers, DC motors, magnetic coils, and factory automation. Three-phase AC input accepts 220 VAC (190–250 V), 380 VAC (348–418 V), 415 VAC, or 480 VAC models. Front-panel potentiometers (ten-turn standard) control voltage and current with simultaneous metering. Analog programming via rear panel (0–5 V standard) enables remote voltage and current adjustment. Optional RS232/IEEE 488 interface supports digital control. Line regulation holds output variation within 0.1% across the full AC input range. Load regulation maintains 0.1% stability for a 30% load step. Transient response is less than 650 microseconds for 30% load steps at 20 V or below; higher voltage units exhibit proportionally extended response times. Output stability maintains maximum 0.05% deviation over eight-hour periods under constant line, load, and temperature. Temperature coefficient is 0.02%/°C for voltage and 0.03%/°C for current. Adjustable front-panel overvoltage protection safeguards connected loads. Remote start/stop functionality via external AC or DC voltage source enables integrated system control.
