The Newport 840-C is a dual-microprocessor handheld optical power meter engineered for sensitive DC and AC peak-to-peak measurements across the 100 pW to 2 W range. The meter accepts Newport’s 818 Series detectors (Si, Ge, InGaAs) via in-line calibration modules, enabling rapid sensor interchange while preserving detector portability. A 4-digit backlit LCD displays results in watts, dBm, or dB units. The instrument combines laboratory-grade accuracy with field-portable convenience, making it suitable for telecommunications, photonics manufacturing, and research environments.

– Compatibility & Integration
The 840-C operates with Newport 818 Series Low-Power detectors (Si, Ge, InGaAs) equipped with in-line calibration modules (818-xx/CM). Newport 918D and 918L Series detectors are compatible with an 818P-DIN adapter. Detector-specific calibration data transfers automatically via the calibration module, allowing detectors to be used with other equipment independently.
