The Newport 2835-C is a dual-channel optical power meter that delivers precise optical power and energy measurements across multiple detector types and wavelength ranges. Built for both free-space and fiber optic applications, it combines a 12-bit high-speed A/D converter for transient capture with a 15-bit integrating A/D for precision DC measurements. The instrument supports pulsed energy, integrated energy, and continuous power measurements with wavelength calibration in 1 nm increments. Data logging captures up to 1,000 measurements per channel, while bidirectional triggering enables seamless integration into automated test systems. Dual RS-232 and IEEE-488 interfaces provide flexible control and data acquisition pathways. Direct panel access streamlines basic operations; an intuitive menu structure handles advanced configuration. The 2835-C accommodates Newport’s entire detector ecosystem—low-power semiconductor photodiodes, high-power thermopile detectors, pyroelectric energy detectors, and integrating spheres—via plug-in calibration modules that encode detector-specific calibration data.

The 2835-C works with all Newport calibration-module-equipped detectors, including 818 Series (818-UV/CM, 818-SL/CM, 818-IR/CM), 818T Series, 818J Series, 919P Series, and 918D Series. Detector connection types include BNC, DB15, and 8-pin mini-DIN connectors depending on the detector model. When equipped with an 818-IR detector, the meter spans 780 nm to 1800 nm with power range -70 dBm to +33 dBm.
