The NI FP-TB-2 FieldPoint Terminal Base is a spring-terminal interface component for the National Instruments FieldPoint distributed I/O system. It connects FieldPoint I/O modules to field wiring while providing power distribution within a FieldPoint bank. The terminal base accommodates one 8 or 16-channel FieldPoint I/O module (excluding dual-channel series) and features 36 total terminals: four dedicated power terminals (two V and two C) and 32 numbered field connection terminals defined by the installed module.
Technical Specifications
• Terminal Configuration: 36 spring terminals total (4 dedicated + 32 numbered)
• Wire Gauge Compatibility: 16-26 AWG copper conductors with 7 mm (0.28 in.) insulation stripped
• Keying System: Adjustable key set to one of 12 positions for module-specific compatibility
• Internal Thermistor: Built-in for cold-junction compensation; FP-TB-3 recommended for enhanced thermocouple accuracy
– Key Features
• Spring-terminal design eliminates torque requirements
• Single-wire connection per terminal simplifies field wiring
• Keyed architecture prevents incorrect module installation
• Double insulation compliant with IEC 1010-1 for common mode voltages up to 250 Vrms
– Electrical Characteristics
• Maximum Current per Terminal: 10 A
• Return Path Limit: 3 A maximum per single terminal
• Total V and C Terminal Current: 10 A combined maximum
• Power Supply: FieldPoint I/O modules draw power from the network module via backplane; external power to terminal bases is generally not required unless routing power to field devices or required by specific modules
– Compatibility & Integration
The FP-TB-2 is exclusively compatible with National Instruments FieldPoint I/O modules and is not compatible with Compact FieldPoint systems. Module and terminal base keying prevents installation errors, enabling rapid field deployment with minimal configuration overhead.
