The NI VXI-MXI Module bridges VXIbus and MXIbus architectures, enabling high-speed communication between VXI mainframes and external PCI-based computers or PXI/CompactPCI systems. This register-based VXIbus extender allows a VXI chassis to be controlled from a remote host equipped with an MXIbus interface, eliminating the need for embedded controllers within the VXI chassis itself. The module supports both master and slave modes across multiple addressing schemes and data sizes, making it ideal for distributed measurement and automated test systems requiring flexible architecture.

Technical Specifications

• Module Class: Register-based VXIbus module, extended class mainframe series
• Bus Compatibility: MXIbus and VXIbus; interfaces 32-bit MXIbus to VXIbus
• Form Factor: C-size and B-size VXI modules (C-size: 233.35 × 340 mm)
• Addressing: Master and slave modes support A32, A24, and A16 addressing
• Data Transfers: Master and slave block transfers, synchronous block transfers
• Data Sizes: Master-mode D32, D16, D08; slave-mode support included
