The Noyes SMLP4-4 is a dual-component fiber optic test kit combining an optical light source (OLS4) and optical power meter (OPM4-2D) for field certification of single-mode and multimode networks. The system delivers stable, accurate measurements across multiple wavelengths with automated wavelength detection and tone-based fiber identification. Technicians can perform insertion loss measurements, continuity checks, and hybrid network testing in a single integrated package.

The OLS4 light source provides wavelength coverage across both fiber types: 850 nm ± 30 nm and 1300 nm -10/+50 nm for multimode, and 1310 nm ± 20 nm and 1550 nm ± 20 nm for single-mode operation. The meter features Wave ID automatic wavelength identification, tone detection supporting 270 Hz, 330 Hz, 1 kHz, and 2 kHz test frequencies, and reference storage for each calibrated wavelength.
Output stability reaches ± 0.1 dB over 8 hours (following 5 min. warm-up) and ± 0.05 dB over 1 hour (following 15 min. warm-up). Operating temperature range is -10°C to 50°C at 90% RH non-condensing. The kit operates up to 300 hours total, with the OPM4-2D delivering 30 typical hours and OLS4 providing 120 typical hours per charge using standard 2 × AA alkaline batteries.
