The Omega CN3101 is a 1/4 DIN programmable temperature and process limit controller engineered for precision regulation and monitoring across industrial applications. This UL-listed and FM-approved device delivers configurable high or low limit control with universal sensor input compatibility, making it suitable for OEM integration and process automation requiring flexible setpoint management and real-time diagnostics.
Technical Specifications
Form Factor & Certifications
• 1/4 DIN panel-mount design
• UL Listed (C, US); FM Approved as limit controller
• NEMA-4X hosedown-rated front panel
• Overall dimensions: 96 mm (W) × 96 mm (H) × 121 mm (D); 102 mm (4″) depth behind panel
Input Stage
Universal sensor inputs accept thermocouple types J, K, E, T, R, S, B; RTD (Pt100, 385); millivolt signals; voltage inputs (0–5 Vdc, 1–5 Vdc); and 4–20 mA current loops. Programmable input scaling spans –500 to 5000 for voltage and current sources.
Output Relays
One Form C high/low limit relay rated 5 A @ 120/230 Vac (resistive load) with automatic, normally-energized latching action. One independent 5 A alarm relay included; optional second alarm relay available with communication modules. Optional analog retransmission outputs 4–20 mA into 0–800 Ω load or 1–5 Vdc into 100 kΩ load.
Control & Display Functions
Programmable deadband and display offset (±17 to 38°C or 1 to 100°F range). Peak value display captures maximum or minimum process variable. Total time over/under setpoint accumulation for process analysis. Alarm setpoints support absolute (high, low, high/low) and tracking modes (±deviation variants) with latching/non-latching relay action and adjustable alarm deadband.
Power & Communications
100–240 Vac standard supply. Optional 24 Vdc ±20% transmitter power at 50 mA maximum. Digital communications module support via RS-232 or RS-422/RS-485 (3250X-CASE-COMM housing with corresponding 3250X-S2 or 3250X-S4 board) enables remote programming and multi-drop monitoring.
– Key Features
• Universal input configuration—thermocouple, RTD, analog mV/V/mA in one device
• Peak and time-over-limit diagnostics identify process excursions
• Form C relay contacts enable both alarm and limit control from single output
• Programmable deadband minimizes relay chatter
• Optional analog retransmission for SCADA/DCS integration
• Latching relay de-energizes at limit setpoint for fail-safe operation
– Typical Applications
Oven and furnace temperature monitoring; environmental chamber limit supervision; process fluid heating/cooling control; equipment protection against thermal excursion; multi-point temperature data logging with optional communications.
– Compatibility & Integration
Fits standard 1/4 DIN panel cutouts. Optional RS-232 and RS-485/422 modules support legacy and modern industrial networks. 24 Vdc transmitter supply accommodates standard 2-wire transmitters and sensor excitation requirements.
